As a Policy and Strategists Advisor with First Global Recruitments you will:

    • Develop high-quality strategy and policy advice across on key aspects of the public service transformation agenda, responding to the priorities set out in the government’s manifesto
    • Develop and deliver policy on key Ministerial priorities which includes: 
      • Provide policy advice, briefings, submissions and draft replies to Ministers and Senior Officials of the Department on the delivery of Government’s initiatives, in each case identifying appropriate content, and clarity of purpose in accordance with Departmental Guidelines.
    • You will also deal with Ministerial correspondence and treat Official cases. Produce meeting notes and follow-up action points.
    • You will also be expected to demonstrate other policy initiatives and competencies in planning, problem solving, organising, communicating, and influencing others, and teamwork.

Here are the key roles and responsibilities:

1 - Policy Development

  • Research and Analysis: Conducting thorough research on relevant issues, policies, and trends. Analysing data to inform policy recommendations.
  • Drafting Policies: Developing clear and actionable policy documents, including white papers, policy briefs, and reports.
  • Stakeholder Consultation: Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to gather input and build consensus on policy initiatives.

2 - Strategic Planning

  • Strategic Analysis: Evaluating the organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis) to inform strategic decisions.
  • Goal Setting: Assisting in setting short-term and long-term strategic goals.
  • Action Plans: Developing detailed action plans to achieve strategic objectives, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.

3 - Strategic Planning

  • Expert Advice: Providing expert advice to senior management on policy and strategy-related matters.
  • Briefing Papers: Preparing briefing papers, presentations, and reports for executives and board members.
  • Scenario Planning: Conducting scenario planning and risk assessment to anticipate future challenges and opportunities.

4 - Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Policy Impact Assessment: Evaluating the effectiveness of policies and strategies through data collection and analysis.
  • Reporting: Producing regular reports on the progress and outcomes of policy initiatives and strategic plans.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommending adjustments and improvements based on evaluation findings.

5 - Communication and Advocacy

  • Policy Communication: Clearly communicating policy positions and strategic plans to stakeholders, including employees, partners, and the public.
  • Advocacy: Advocating for the organization’s policy positions in meetings, forums, and public events.
  • Representation: Representing the organization in negotiations, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.

6 - Collaboration and Networking

  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Working closely with other departments to ensure policies and strategies are integrated and coherent across the organization.
  • External Partnerships: Building and maintaining relationships with external organizations, government agencies, and industry bodies.
  • Networking: Staying informed about developments in the field through networking, attending conferences, and participating in professional associations.
